Teeth Cleanings

Regular teeth cleanings and hygiene appointments are the foundation of preventive dental care. During your cleaning, we will thoroughly cleanse your teeth and gums and remove any plaque or debris from every surface in your mouth. You’ll even be able to reverse minor stains to keep your smile bright and beautiful. We recommend scheduling routine cleanings and exams every six months for most patients.

The Importance of Dental Checkups

Regular dental checkups are crucial for identifying potential issues early before they become serious. Professional teeth cleanings remove tartar and plaque buildup that cannot be eliminated through regular brushing and flossing alone. This preventative care helps you avoid cavities, gum disease, and other oral health problems.

However, good oral hygiene shouldn’t stop when you leave our office. Keeping up with your at-home brushing and flossing routine is equally as important as attending professional cleanings and is the best way to keep your teeth and gums healthy. Use a fluoride-rich toothpaste and a soft-bristled toothbrush to brush your teeth at least twice a day for two minutes at a time; and don’t forget to floss! Flossing at least once every day, ideally before going to bed, helps eliminate food particles, plaque, and bacteria that can’t be removed with brushing alone.

  • How long does a teeth cleaning take?

Standard teeth cleanings typically take about 30 to 60 minutes. The duration can vary based on the level of plaque buildup and any additional treatments needed. Our dental hygienists thoroughly clean your teeth, removing plaque and tartar, and polish your teeth for a smooth finish.

  • How long after a teeth cleaning can I eat?

You can generally eat immediately after a teeth cleaning. However, it’s recommended to wait at least 30 minutes, especially if fluoride treatment was applied. This waiting period allows the fluoride to fully absorb and provide maximum protection for your teeth.

  • How much is a teeth cleaning without insurance?

The cost of a teeth cleaning without insurance varies depending on the complexity of the cleaning and the dental practice. At Rooted Dentistry, cleanings include an exam, full series of X-rays and fluoride treatment ranging from $0 – $498. We offer competitive pricing and can provide a specific quote based on your individual needs during your visit. Our team can also discuss various payment options available to you.
